The Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Program is dedicated to the comprehensive care of children, adolescents and families who are affected by pediatric multiple sclerosis (MS), acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), optic neuritis, and transverse myelitis.

New Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Program
Neurologist Mark Gorman, MD, developed the MS program to care for children and teens with MS, ADEM, optic neuritis and transverse myelitis. Here he discusses symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.

The Program is led by:
Pediatric neurologist Mark Gorman, MD, is one of less than a handful of physicians in the country to complete formal fellowship training in both pediatric neurology and multiple sclerosis.
Melissa Matson, PhD is the team's pediatric neuropsychologist who performs specialized cognitive testing to determine a patient's cognitive profile. Ms. Catherine Petty, MEd, MA, LMHC, works with families and schools to translate these test results into individualized educational programs.
Mrs. Debora DeMange, RN, BSN, AS, is the pediatric neurology nurse on the team. She maintains close contact with patients and families, providing ongoing support for any questions regarding symptoms, lab results, and medications.
Ms. Shuei Kozu, LICSW, a licensed clinical social worker and Mrs. Christine Rich, MS, RN, a patient and family education specialist, help to connect patients and families with hospital and community resources.
The team has also trained teenage patients who have been diagnosed with MS for more than one year and a parent to serve as peer contacts for newly diagnosed patients and their parents, thus providing a unique patient and family perspective.
