Flor Rostros de esperanza
Imagen Who better to speak to the fears of those just starting the cancer journey, and who better to inspire families new to this experience, than those who walked a similar path?

"Faces of Hope: Stories of Inspiration and Strength during the Journey through Childhood Cancer," is a moving publication detailing the strength, courage and grace we see everyday within our pediatric oncology patients and families. It presents powerful images of 51 pediatric cancer patients along with patient/family-submitted stories explaining their sources of encouragement and hope.

Imagen The book's foundation is the understanding that, while personal stories may vary, the emotional jolt patients and families endure when being thrust into an unfamiliar and uncertain world is universal. To support those just beginning their cancer journey, we asked families to share thoughts they wanted to tell new families and words they wished others had spoken to them as they navigated their child's cancer diagnosis. We also asked patients to address those who will follow in their footsteps, to offer encouragement and advice for other children, adolescents and young adults facing cancer treatment. Together, the images and words in "Faces of Hope" provide wisdom, give valuable insight, inspire courage and evoke hope for those beginning the journey that is childhood cancer.

A true community effort, the creation of "Faces of Hope" was led by Denise Ethier, Rebekah Butcher-Ciano, Carey Sullivan and Alicia Pensarosa, photography and graphic design students at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University. They worked closely with our patients and families to capture the emotion, strength and knowledge presented through "Faces of Hope."

Thanks to the generosity of the George J. & Jessica Harris Foundation, we are able to provide this book at no cost to families of pediatric cancer patients treated through Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care.

Other interested parties may purchase "Faces of Hope" for $20.00. You can order online, send us an email o llame al 617-355-5645.
