Children's Hospital Boston is pleased to announce that following a nation-wide search, Dr. Man Wai Ng has been appointed as chief of Dentistry and dentist-in-chief. Currently serving as chief of Dentistry at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Ng will begin working part-time in Boston this month and will join the Children's Hospital Boston staff full-time in July. Ng will replace Dr. Stephen Shusterman, who will step down after more than 30 years of providing outstanding leadership and commitment to the Department of Dentistry at Children's Hospital Boston.
''Dr. Ng is an energetic and enthusiastic leader who has proven herself to be capable of overseeing transition while maintaining direction and establishing new vision. These qualities made her an ideal candidate for the chief of Dentistry position,'' said Dr. James Mandell, president and chief executive officer of Children's Hospital Boston. ''Dr. Ng's leadership experience and clinical expertise will help Children's Hospital Boston continue to deliver the highest quality health care to every patient. We are anxious and excited to have her join our staff full-time.''
''It is a tremendous honor for me to be selected to join the talented staff at Children's Hospital Boston,'' said Ng. ''Providing comprehensive dental care to children of all ages, the Department of Dentistry works with patients and their families to not only teach the importance of good oral health care, but to provide the tools with which to achieve these goals. As chief of Dentistry, I look forward to continuing the department's tradition of delivering the best possible care to our patients.''
