Why: Pediatric clinical research is an increasingly important component of medical investigation, adding to the classic ''bench-to-bedside'' route for new drugs and treatments at which Children's Hospital has always excelled. The specialized techniques required for epidemiological studies and clinical trials, coupled with the competing demands of the university, government, and marketplace, can be daunting to a young investigator entering the field. This symposium is an attempt to provide a roadmap and offer early guidance for those who want to start and maintain a career in this challenging area.
