In December, the United Nations General Assembely adopted a resolution declaring April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD).
Autism is a neurological and developmental disorder, for which symptoms include a lack of or little interest in others, a lack of social awareness, and a strong focus on consistent routine with an interest in repeating odd or peculiar behaviors.
The focus of the day is to highlight the growing national and global health crisis of autism and related autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) in children.
Children's Hospital Boston has a variety of clinical programs, support services, and resources for patients and families living with autism and related ASDs.
